original media ventures
Content that connects with the next generation of audiences.
A new generation of audiences demands to see their experiences and values represented authentically on screen, which is only possible if those experiences and values are represented behind the camera.
The world, driven by a new generation that is larger and more diverse than any in history, is demanding representation in film, television, advertising, and digital content. Traditional entertainment and media companies are struggling to deliver, as good intentions cannot change institutionalized inertia.
Original is built on a new model that seeks and supports the most promising storytellers from all backgrounds, perspectives, experiences and geographies - and removes barriers for the world to hear their stories.
BUILD THE PIPELINE
REPRESENT powers a new generation of aspiring creative professionals to develop skills, build networks, and grow their talent into a creative career, while allowing brands and media/content organizations to identify and partner with talented new creative voices, in order to meet the demand of today’s audiences to see their real world represented on screen.
DEVELOP THE TALENT
Each year we invite some of the particularly promising individuals we encounter to join one of our intimate professional development labs. The labs are independently funded and designed to support promising creatives anywhere in the country, so that those with familial and financial obligations are able to participate.
TELL THE STORIES
We develop, produce, and distribute video content of all shapes and sizes. Representation is built into every stage and level of Original productions, with a focus on creating opportunities for emerging creative talent throughout the entire process.
The founders of Original Media Ventures came together through successful careers in entertainment, media, and advertising. We’ve been fortunate in our careers, but were deeply troubled. We watched as our industries failed again and again to give a seat at the table to more diverse points of view. We saw the products of those industries become increasingly out of touch with the culture. We felt the consequences of that failure rippling through society.
In 2018, we decided to make a change and challenge these failing systems.
We’ve built our own table, and invite everyone to have a seat.
